IndependenceFirst is Metro Milwaukee’s Independent Living Center, and provides a variety of services for people with disabilities.

IndependenceFirst “adopted” WRP in 2003, and has provided significant financial and administrative support to the program, with the goal of WRP sustainability.

Milwaukee County has contributed commercial space on Wells St. to the Wheelchair Recycling Program since 2001. This space serves as our primary storefront in Milwaukee and made it possible for the program to expand to Milwaukee from Madison.

Badger State Industries operates inmate work programs at correctional institutions around the state. Positions are paid and highly sought.  BSI repairs and cleans wheelchairs for WRP at their workshop in Redgranite Correctional Institution. This service is provided to the program free of charge, and enables WRP to offer high quality refurbished equipment at low cost.

WisTech Assistive Technology Program is the federally-funded, statewide assistive technology
program. The Wheelchair Recycling Program is an integral partner of
WisTech and provides Device Reutilization services statewide.

WRP has entered into an agreement with the Wisconsin Independent Living Centers to serve as additional contact points for WRP products and services.
